City Life Center

We believe this center will be a HUGE part of changing our community

YOUTH CAN BE EMPOWERED TO BECOME LEADERS AT A YOUNG AGE.

Through YFC youth are provided opportunities for leadership by being involved in youth development programs, such as YFC Core or City Life club. Teens are encouraged to take responsibility, earn authority and lead confidently. As we usher youth into leadership roles, YFC has the opportunity to guide these students as they develop, continually equipping them as they grow into the person they were created to be. Our highest goal is to see kids EMPOWERED by and through following Jesus and pointing others to Him. Students will lead Bible studies alongside YFC leaders who will coach and guide them as they share their faith. The cycle of engagement continues as students now become the primary agents of contact and change in their neighborhoods.

Our weekly schedule includes:

  • Weekly Gathering - Thursdays at 2:30
    • What to expect:
      • Friendly people who will help you find your way around.
      • A time of worship — feel free to just listen or join in.
      • Someone will pray and talk about our journey with Jesus.
      • A leader will spend around 30 minutes connecting your story to the Bible.
  • Weekly Discipleship - Tuesdays at 2:30.
    • What to expect:
      • The Bible to be opened.
      • Discussion on the passage.
      • Application to our lives.
      • How to apply this with our friends and family.

Our schedule is built around school. We try to make sure our gathering times are available for students, age 11-19. Join us!

RESEARCH SHOWS THAT IN LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES, MANY KIDS ARE UNABLE TO
FIND HOMEWORK HELP AT HOME. IT IS OUR DESIRE TO EQUIP KIDS BY PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING:

  • Offering GED and college preparatory assistance
  • Students who lack access to a home computer are 10% less likely to graduate high school (Institute of the Study of Labor)

TUTORING

  • Providing youth with a positive & stimulating environment to experience academic success
  • Volunteers working with students individually and in small groups
  • Natural development of mentoring relationships

LIFE-SKILLS

  • Adapting our current array of life-skills classes to meet the needs of youth attending the center
  • Web-based, practical financial training through Economis
  • Partnering with other non-profits to provide job training and internships

DISCIPLESHIP

  • Our greatest investment & highest goal
  • Weekly groups focused on following Jesus and living out the gospel
  • Turning an initial decision into a lifelong quest for relational, experiential knowledge about who Jesus is
